Building alongside a public highway comes with its own distinct challenges but also earns praise from parents and pedestrians alike.
We purchased Elm road as a semi-detached quasi-corner plot adjoining an alleyway to a popular primary school at the rear of the house. The proximity of the side access required careful planning of construction schedules and structures for the double-storey side extension to ensure uninterrupted access. The garage conversion allowed us to open the kitchen and diner up into a large open plan living area featuring bi-folding doors overlooking the back garden’s new patio and single storey extension.
The removal of a large tree stump in the front garden meant we could create a large semi-circle driveway allowing access on both sides of the pedestrian crossing directly in front of the house. We were especially proud of the finish on this house having received the seal of approval from the previous owner’s family who were known to us.
